Learn how to install and maintain your native landscape! NLCP is a state-wide program, but classes focus on the characteristics and plants in the region in which they are taught. This class is presented by the Highland Lakes chapter.

Class Outline:

Level 3: Installation and Maintenance of Native Landscapes

  • Recognize differences between native and non-native landscapes
  • Become familiar with how to install the different types of native plants into a landscape, including: plant choice, purchase, placement, spacing; soil choice; bed and soil preparation; planting seeds and plants; mulching
  • Understand maintenance requirements and techniques, and create maintenance schedules for the different types of native plants
  • Become familiar with 45 native Texas plants recommended for your landscape and 5 plants to avoid

You must have completed Level 1: Introduction to Native Landscapes to be eligible to attend this class.

Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP)

The Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP) is a four-level certification program that teaches the value of including and preserving native plants in landscapes. Classes focus on the characteristics and plants of the region in which they are taught. Check it out.

Registration Process

When you "Click to register online", a "Log In" screen pops up.  You must log in to register at the Member Price.  If you are a member, have taken a class, or attended an event in the past, an account has already been created for you, though you may still need to create a login.   Log in or create a login by filling in the email address used to complete your registration and clicking "Recover Account."  Account records are secure and will not be shared.  

Non-members may click on the "X" in the upper right-hand corner of the pop-up screen to close it and access the registration form.

 After Registration Watch for multiple emails prone to getting caught by spam filters:

1 week prior to class - reminder email
3 days prior to class - an email with class materials and Zoom links
1 day prior and day-of class - final reminder emails

Class Prices and NPSOT Member Discounts

Level 1: $45 for all
Levels 2, 3, 4 and Native Landscapes for Birds:
$50 - Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) members
$65 - Non-members. Become a NPSOT member. 

Cancellations

Contact: Linda Foss NLCP@npsot.org or (830) 218-7211. Fees may not be applied to future classes. Cancellations made by midnight on the Monday prior to class are eligible for a refund. Upon cancellation, a $10 handling fee is deducted from the refund. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
