Learn about 45 natives and how to design your native plant landscape! NLCP is a state-wide program, but classes focus on the characteristics and plants in the region in which they are taught.

In-Person at the Cibolo Center for Conservation,
Nature Center Auditorium, 140 City Park Road

Online Test:  After completing the class you will be sent a link to the optional online test which you will have 3 days to complete.

Class Outline

Level 2: Landscape Design with Native Plants

  • Learn how to create landscape designs using native plants
  • Review ecological considerations important to landscape design
  • Identify cultural considerations impacting landscape design
  • Learn steps to the design process
  • Practice the design process during an hour-long exercise
  • Become familiar with 45 native Texas plants recommended for your landscape and 5 plants to avoid

Note: You must complete NLCP Level 1 before taking this class.

Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP)
The Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP) is a four-level certification program that teaches the value of including and preserving native plants in landscapes. Classes focus on the characteristics and plants of the region in which they are taught. Please register for classes located in the region in which you wish to landscape. Check it out!

Registration Process

You must log in to register at the Member Price.  If you are a member, have taken a class or attended an event in the past, an account has already been created for you. You may need to create a login for that account if you have not done so.  Log in or create a login by filling in the email address used to complete your registration and clicking "Recover Account." 

If you have never used our system to register for a class and are not a member, click the X to close the popup and complete the registration form beneath.

After registration, watch for several emails prone to getting caught by spam filters:

  • NPSOT registration confirmation email - check junk mail
  • 1 week prior to class - reminder email
  • 3 days prior to class - an email with class materials and Zoom links
  • 1 day prior and day-of class - final reminder emails

Class Prices and NPSOT Member Discounts

Level 1: $45 for all
Levels 2, 3, 4 and Native Landscapes for Birds:
$50 - Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) members
$65 - Non-members. Become a NPSOT member

Cancellations 
Contact: Linda Foss  Nlcp@npsot.org or (830) 218-7211. Fees may not be applied to future classes. Cancellations made by midnight on the Monday prior to class are eligible for a refund. Upon cancellation, a $10 handling fee is deducted from the refund. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
