Summary

Learn how to assess and create a stewardship plan for your land. NLCP is a state-wide program, but classes focus on the characteristics and plants in the region in which they are taught.
NOTE: Class is specific to the San Antonio area and is held in 2 separate sessions.

Description

Attend 2 Sessions to Complete Class:
Online Presentations: Saturday, March 25, at 8 am - 12 pm
In-person Field Trip:  April 1 between 8 am - 12 pm  at the Medina River Natural Area - 15890 State Hwy 16 S, San Antonio, TX 78264 
Online Test:  After completing the class and plant walk, you will be sent a link to the online test which you will have 3 days to complete.

Only sign up for this class if you are willing to attend the in-person plant walk which will comply with all applicable health agency requirements.

Class Outline:

NLCP Level 4: Stewardship of Native Plant Communities

  • What land stewardship is and why it matters

  • Applying stewardship - from urban yards to large natural areas

  • Threats to natural habitats and resulting impacts

  • How to create an effective land stewardship plan, including

    • researching and assessing what you have,

    • setting and prioritizing your goals,

    • prioritizing and implementing appropriate land management practices, and

    • monitoring and re-assessing the effectiveness of your land stewardship plan.

The Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP) is a four-level certification program that teaches the value of including and preserving native plants in landscapes. Classes focus on the characteristics and plants of the region in which they are taught. Check it out!

Registration Process

You must log in to register at the Member Price.  If you are a member, have taken a class or attended an event in the past, an account has already been created for you. You may need to create a login for that account if you have not done so.  Log in or create a login by filling in the email address used to complete your registration and clicking "Recover Account."  Account records are secure and will not be shared.  IF you are not a member, click the X to close the popup and complete the registration form.

Level 1: $45 for all
Levels 2, 3, 4 and Native Landscapes for Birds:
$50 - Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) members
$65 - Non-members. Become a NPSOT member.

Cancellations

Contact: Linda Foss NLCP@npsot.org or (830) 218-7211. Fees may not be applied to future classes. Cancellations made by midnight on the Monday prior to class are eligible for a refund. Upon cancellation, a $10 handling fee is deducted from the refund. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
