NLCP Level 1 NC Tarrant County - Hybrid -- 05/17/2025

This class is specific to the north-central Texas area (Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton, Collin County) and is held in 2 separate sessions over 2 days: A Zoom class plus in-person Plant Walk the next day.   Both sessions are required to complete the class.  Note: This is a collaboration between the Dallas & North Central chapters with separate sites for the in-person portion. Please choose the class with the plant walk location you wish to attend.

Please register for the class based on the in-person site you wish to attend. But if one is sold out, consider the other class.

Presentations: Via Zoom May 17 9 am – 2 pm
Plant Walk: May 18  9:00 AM – 11:30 AM  at the White Settlement - Recreation Center, 8213 White Settlement Road, White Settlement, TX

Class Outline
Level 1: Introduction to Native Landscapes

• Learn the value of including and preserving native plants in landscapes
• Understand the differences between sustainable and conventional development
• Discover your Texas ecoregion, vegetation, and soil.
• Become familiar with 45 native Texas plants recommended for your landscape and 5 plants to avoid

NLCP Level 1 is a prerequisite for Levels 2 - 3 which may be taken in any order.

The Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP) is a four-level certification program that teaches the value of including and preserving native plants in landscapes. Classes focus on the characteristics and plants of the region in which they are taught. Check it out.

Registration Process

When you "Click to register online", a "Log In" screen pops up.  You must log in to register at the Member Price.  If you are a member, have taken a class or attended an event in the past, an account has already been created for you using the email address from your registration. You may need to create a login if you have never logged in before by filling in the email address used to complete your registration and clicking "Recover Account."  Account records are secure and will not be shared.  

To register without logging in, click the x at the top right to close the popup and complete the form below.

After Registration Watch for several emails (Prone to getting caught by SPAM filters):

• NPSOT registration confirmation email - check junk mail
• 1 week prior to class - reminder email
• 3 days prior to class - email with class materials and Zoom links
• 1 day prior and day-of class - final reminder emails

Level 1: $45 for all
Levels 2, 3, 4 and Native Landscapes for Birds:
$50 - Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) members
$65 - Non-members. Become a NPSOT member. 

Cancellations

Contact: Linda Foss NLCP@npsot.org or (830) 218-7211. Fees may not be applied to future classes. Cancellations made by midnight on the Monday prior to class are eligible for a refund. Upon cancellation, a $10 handling fee is deducted from the refund. Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
